Celiscan is a gluten-free product scanner made by Roop Labs, LLC. This policy describes what the app does with data, in plain language.
No account, no profile
Celiscan has no sign-up and no user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, or contacts, and we cannot identify you personally from your use of the app.
What stays on your device
Your Pantry, scan history, wishlist, and preferences are stored locally on your device only. They are not uploaded to our servers and are not synced across devices. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.
What is sent to our servers
To check a product, the app sends the product barcode, and, if you scan an ingredients label, the label text or photo, to our backend for analysis. Photos are processed to produce a verdict and are not stored. Product-level results (barcode, ingredients, verdict) are cached in a shared product database so future scans are faster for everyone; nothing in that cache is tied to you.
Analytics and crash reporting
We collect anonymous usage events (for example, "a scan happened") through Mixpanel and crash diagnostics through Sentry to keep the app working well. These are not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases; RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your receipt, never your Apple ID password or payment details.
What we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not share data with data brokers.
Product data sources
Product information comes from Open Food Facts (ODbL) and USDA FoodData Central, plus our own curated database. Verdicts are informational and not medical advice, always confirm with the packaging and the manufacturer.
Children
Celiscan is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
